I’ve always been a skeptic,
But somehow, I believe
That the ones we love the most
Never fully leave.
So when the day arrives
That my hand’s not here to hold,
And my voice has simply vanished,
Stealing stories left untold,
Your tears might score your cheeks,
And I know this won’t feel true,
But believe me when I say,
That I’ll always be with you.
You’ll find me in the rainbow,
And in the cardinal flitting by.
You’ll find me in a belly laugh,
And painted in a sherbet sky.
You’ll find me in the sunshine,
And in the steady tide.
I’ll be with you every day.
My love, I will not hide.
But should your doubt betray you,
There’s no need for despair,
For the days that I seem quiet
Don’t mean that I’m not there.
And if you ever wonder
If the sign you see is me,
I promise you, my dear,
It will surely be.
